Courvillage Honeymoon - Part 3 // Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle, Bell Rock

Courvillage Honeymoon - Part 3 // Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle, Bell Rock

Bell Rock Sedona Arizona Jon Courville

Thursday.

After Jon made a DELICIOUS breakfast...

...we headed out to see Tuzigoot, a National Monument in Clarkdale, Arizona. It was about a 30 minute drive from Sedona. Blue skies and a warm sun made for a perfect day!

Tuzigoot is an ancient village or pueblo built by a culture known as the Sinagua. The pueblo consisted of 110 rooms including second and third story structures. The first buildings were built around A.D. 1000. The Sinagua were agriculturalists with trade connections that spanned hundreds of miles. The people left the area around 1400. The site is currently comprised of 42 acres.

We rate Tuzigoot with 3 stars.

After Tuzigoot, we had lunch at the cutest diner [Bing's Burger Station] where we split some chicken strips and an ice cream sundae. We had to hurry back to our resort because we had a meeting concerning a special event that happened the following day. We will be blogging about in the next post! You won't want to miss it!

Later in the afternoon after the meeting, we drove to Montezuma Castle. It took us about 45 minutes from Sedona. We have to say that we were expecting much more than what we saw. After paying $10 a person, we realized that all you could do was walk on the sidewalk and look at the rock. You got it. Just look at it. And you could basically see it all from the parking lot - before you paid.

Needless to say, we were very disappointed and frustrated! We really wanted to go into the castle! There were probably videos and documentaries inside the visitor center, but we weren't interested in those [plus we arrived a little before it closed].

We rate Montezuma Castle with 2.5 stars.

On the way back from our disappointing adventure, we took the long way back to our resort. Best decision ever! We came to BELL ROCK. This ended up being our favorite location for the entire honeymoon! The sun was about to set, and the light on the rocks were perfect. We had been hoping for a good sunset while on the honeymoon, but this light and the reflection was gorgeous [even though there weren't really any colors in the sky until later].

Check out our awesome rental!

We rate Bell Rock with 5 stars!

Go out and adventure!
